Exquisite!

How else can I describe this beautiful little card? It’s not really a postcard but an advertisement for a shirt maker. The characters are in relief and the dress, coat and roses on the fan are silk.

I’m not sure how old it is, but it is in very good condition. Be sure to click on the image for a better view.

We sometimes find unusual advertising ephemera, but this has to be the best one I've ever seen! It's a shame you can't narrow down it's age. Would the figures have been contemporary to the shop, or are they just an elaborate picture? That's the question, isn't it? Is there any foxing or any indication of age? Can you judge the time period by the postcards you found it with?

DB: It's just a pretty picture, I think that they liked what I would call Regency costumes at the time. I'd like to know how they applied the silk to the card. The scan doesn't do it justice.

Not one single spot of foxing.

If I had to I'd say between 1900 and 1914.

It's a beautiful card. Where have all those days gone. I would have loved to dress like that.:)

Don't know how and from where you find all those beautiful cards, but keep them coming.

That's so pretty, and cute. Are these old postcards worth some money for their antiquity?

You are too busy a lady! I keep hoping for another postcard to enjoy, but I'll just have to be patient. :(

Impressive craftsmanship. You just don't that kind of art today in something as common as an advertisement. I wonder if a photo, under the right lighting, would bring out relief and the details of the clothing?
