Poor Dodo

I wanted to share this postcard of a Dodo with you. Weren’t they sweet? If they were alive today would they be;

1. served up for Christmas dinner
2. in a zoo
3. sold as pets?

If you read the Wikipedia entry, there doesn’t appear to be a stuffed Dodo that they know of. Well, you saw it here first! The postcard received a bid very quickly after being put up for sale on eBay.

I would like a little pet dodo! I'm sure that he'd get aong with my cat:)

Marie: Thank you for your comment. i was very pleased to discover your postcard blog! I think that a dodo would make a nice cuddly toy!

Definitely eaten for Christmas, we'd also have bigger ovens.

Hopefully, in the wild still! But more likely in a zoo, those beaks don't look very safe! ;-)

And I can't eat turkey, so I couldn't eat one of those!! They're even cuter than turkeys are..

Martin: I think he's too cute to eat

Chandira: I was terrified of turkeys when I was small, I couldn't call them cute.

These postcards are great! I have bought postcards in the past at antique shops, once on eBay...an RSVP to a Valentines party from 1906. Something nostalgic and comfortable about something intimate as correspondence from the past. I saw a set of journals from a 1920's farm wife. I was really interested, but they ended up going for almost $500! I hope they find their way to a historical society.

Over six years later and we know that this wasn'nt a real dodo at all!
