The Garden Grill Room

A lovely postcard from the famous postcard publishers; Tuck’s. This one is of The Garden Grill Room at the May Fair Hotel in London. The card has a texture that makes it appear to be an oil painting. It seems that this postcard was quite popular. The May Fair is still there and was recently modernised. Any one for tea?

I love gardens like this. They had one such place for tea at an old hotel in Singapore, the Raffles Hotel, we enjoyed going to. I could envision ladies such as this sitting there having tea, chatting. Next door was the authors pub where authors met to write , discuss and then another long bar area with comfortable bamboo chairs and cushions, where the first Singapore sling was made.
The rooms had stories of hauntings and once in a while you'd see a woman walk in the tea are dressed in the old fashioned way. She also is/was a ghost. They renovated everything and it lost it's flavor.

Oh! How pretty! It does look like a painting. I'd love to visit the May Fair. Hopefully one time when I'm in London. (I've never been)

A Lady's Life: You had tea at Raffles!!! I think it would be fun to put on a pretty dress and have real afternoon tea.

Isobel: There are so many places I'd like to visit. I use Google earth to see if they are still there.
