There goes the train!

You will have to click on this card so that you can see the train going over the viaduct. I’ve also scanned the back so that you can see the beautiful handwriting. This postcard was sent in 1903 or before. Any messages had to be written on the front of the card up until that year.

Also, what a simple address for a large city, the name of the street and ‘Paris’; I don’t think it would be delivered today. I googled the address, 45 Rue Alexandre Dumas, and discovered that Alexandre Dumas (The Three Musketeers) used to live at 45 Rue du Mont Blanc!

I wish I could write like that! Calligraphy is a lost art.

I have some cheques from the Civil War that my mother gave me. I have no idea where she got them. But... it had such elegant handwriting like this.

My writing is so bad that, sometimes, I cannot even read myself what I wrote.

Titania: My eldest two were fortunate enough to have an old fashioned teacher and have lovely hadwriting. It takes a lot of time and practise.

Peter: I am the same, it's fortunate that we don't have to write our blog posts by hand!

Hi Angie ~ My mother wrote a bit like that....and so to I 'cause I'm ancient!

ps: maybe you should try and see if a street name and a city name would work today (bet it would! :)
