We’re almost at the centenary of the very first battles of the First World War. Here are a few pictures to remind us why it was called a “World War”.

Fascinating postcards. I always enjoy the beautiful and historic ones you find.
So sad to think all this went on and as children we never knew it. We are born fresh and really if we did not know it,all the hate and mistrust and racism... maybe people could be raised better and kinder and more loving.

A lady's Life: I knew about the war as a child, but I didn't understand. It's important never to forget so that it doesn't happen again - well, we can hope.
