The Hermit

The Abbé Fouré (1839-1910) worked for 25 years of his life sculpting the most amazing figures into the rock. He became deaf and dumb after an illness. I hope to go one day to the north of France to see what remains of his work.

I wonder what I would do if I had 25 years to spare.....

I am amazed by the documentary "wealth" all these postcards represent. And a nice way too to look at past times. Peter

That was so neat, the way you got me back into 2007 and the Abbe Foure (sorry about lack of accents)

To leave something of beauty when you've passed on is quite an achievement.

Heard of him but never seen the work. I miss our lazy wanderings through the back roads of France. It was a dram to make the whole journey south via "D" and "C" roads but age and costs are catching up on us and the world is changing so quickly too. Thirty years ago we drove through every town and village, now you are more likely to find that you have been swept round the place before you know it.

Brittany is just so huge and a bit far off to the left to get to easily but I bet it has changed less than most places.

Henry and Caroline: It was lovely to revisit this card again, thanks to both of your comments.
